Machinery Diagnostics can perform Laser Machinery Alignment services at your facility location. We offer laser shaft alignment and laser v-belt alignment services on a wide variety of rotating machinery. For shaft alignment services, we take into consideration, check, correct and compensate for soft-foot, thermal growth, mechanical looseness, coupling gap and magnetic center during alignment process. We utilize properly sized, pre-cut, stainless steel shims for alignment corrections.
"The primary reasons that machinery is misaligned are lack of proper training, improper tools and insufficient time to do it right" - John Piostrowski
We also have the equipment and experience in measuring off-line to on-line machinery movement using Acculine Essinger Bars, a Benchmark Gauge Set. We measure the actual machinery movement between ambient temperature (off-line) and running temperature (on-line). These values are used during Laser Machinery Alignment to compensate for actual machinery thermal growth.
Machinery Diagnostics provides Laser Machinery Alignment services on a variety of rotating machinery, such as:
- Pumps
- Blowers and Fans
- Cooling Towers
- Gearboxes
- Air Cooled Condensers
- Generator & Energy Flywheels
- Shaft Driven Machinery
- Multi-coupled Machinery
- All Belt Driven Machinery
What is Shaft Misalignment?
In basic terms: Shaft misalignment occurs when the center lines of two shafts are offset, or meet at an angle.
Types of shaft misalignment include:
- Offset (parallel) shaft misalignment
- Angular shaft misalignment
- More often than not, the condition is a combination of both offset and angular misalignment
Most coupling manufacturer alignment tolerances were designed for the coupling, not necessarily for the machine using the coupling.
To help ensure smooth operation, it is most important to incorporate proper alignment tolerances, which take into consideration machine rotational speed. Precision Laser Machinery Alignment reduces vibration and power consumption, as well as prolonging component and overall machinery life. Laser Alignment improves the overall health and reliability of your machinery, while helping to reduce downtime.
Machinery Diagnostics also provides Laser Alignment Services for Belt Driven Machinery.
What is Belt or Sheave Misalignment?
In basic terms: V-belt, or perhaps more correctly stated "Sheave Misalignment" occurs when the v-grooves of the drive and driven sheaves are not directly inline with each other.
- Some laser belt alignment systems reference the faces (not the v-grooves) of the sheaves during the alignment process.
- The distance between the face and edge of the first v-groove is not necessary consistent across different series, or manufacturer's of sheaves. In these cases, more accurate results would be realized using an alignment system that references the v-grooves.
Types of Belt or Sheave Misalignment include:
- Offset (parallel) sheave misalignment
- Angular sheave alignment
- More often than not, the condition is a combination of both offset and angular misalignment
